Understand How Billing Works
Faceskool Platform uses a hybrid hourly billing model that is
simple and flexible. It enables you to continuously add and
remove people from your school workspaces throughout the month.
After the month is over, you receive an invoice for the
hourly usage of each person within your workspaces up to the
monthly cap. Here are some important billing considerations:
Every subscription plan offered by Faceskool has a predicable
monthly rate (also called the monthly cap) in addition to a
flexible hourly rate.
When a user (students, parents or admin) is logged in to use
the service, charges accrue according to their respective hourly
rate for the active subscription plan up to the monthly cap.
These accrued charges are displayed on the Billing Info tab
within the Subscription page and this info is used for generating
invoice for the month. Usage is always rounded up to the nearest
hour.
Faceskool Platform only consider Monthly Active Users when
computing charges for the month in question. That is, if you have only 10
people use your workspaces within a given month, then your invoice for that
month will be based on the charges that accrued for those 10 users depending
on their respective hourly rate. Those that did not use your workspace within
that month are not considered.
If no one (students, parents or admin) uses your workspaces on Faceskool
within a given month, then your charge for that month is the flat rate for
subscription plan you are subscribed to. This charge is for keeping our
infrastructure and storage services up and running at all times.
Faceskool Platform uses a monthly billing cycle. An invoice is automatically
generated on the first day of each month and includes the previous month’s
usage.
With Faceskool monthly billing cycle, you pay based on the
Monthly Active Users (MAUs), at a rate
determined by the subscription plan you are subscribed to, as shown
above per month, for up to 720 hours of usage. A user is counted as
a MAU if, within a calendar month, the user uses Faceskool for either
administrative, collaborative or learning purpose.
You are not charged for inactive users within that
calendar month; except for the related subscription
plan flat fee to cover for infrastructure costs and storage.
Example Billing Scenarios
Here are a few examples of common billing scenarios you might encounter. For
these examples, we will assume the month is 30 days (720 hours). We will also
be using the Starter Subscription Plan, which has a flat rate of $5.99,
an hourly rate of $0.0005/hour for students, an hourly rate of $0.0010/hour
for parents and an hourly rate of $0.0045/hour for administrators.
Only 20 Administrators used the service
If only 20 admins used your workspaces for administrative purpose within a given
month and assuming they each spent a total of 100 hours within the
month, then the bill for that month will be calculated as
follows:
(hours spent * hourly rate for admin * number of admins) +
subscription plan flat rate.
(100 * $0.0045 * 20) + $5.99 = $14.99
Only 20 Students, 20 Parents and 20 Administrators used the service
If only 60 people (20 students, 20 parents and 20 admins) used your
workspaces for info, learning or administrative purpose within a given
month and assuming they each spent a total of 100 hours within the
month, then the bill for that month will be calculated as
follows:
(hours spent * hourly rate for students * number of students) +
(hours spent * hourly rate for parents * number of parents) +
(hours spent * hourly rate for admins * number of admins) +
subscription plan flat rate.
(100 * $0.0005 * 20) + (100 * $0.001 * 20) +
(100 * $0.0045 * 20) +
$5.99 = $17.99
No one uses your workspaces in a month
If no one uses your school workspaces for a given month, then your charge
for that month will be the flat rate for the subscription plan you
are subscribed to, in this case it will be the $5.99
Billing Cycle Overview
Faceskool subscriptions are billed monthly.
You will be invoiced at the end of each billing period.
You can find more details about billing below. There are multiple
pricing plans available. For a comparison of available pricing
plans, see Faceskool Pricing Plan above.
Workspaces are not individually billed, this means that
you can have one or more workspaces under a single
Subscription Account, however the plan you choose will
limit the number of unique persons that can be on a workspace, including
students, parents and administrators.
After the first 30 days of creating an
evaluation subscription account, you will be notified that your
evaluation period is ending 7 days before it actually ends, and you will
receive a normal bill after the second period (generally around
60 days after creating a subscription account). Billing periods
are explained in more detail below.
If you have multiple workspaces associated with your
Subscription Account, you can add people across your workspaces,
invitations count against your associated subscription plan limit only
when its the first time you are adding someone to any of your workspaces.
If someone is already on one of your workspaces and you want him or
her to join another of your workspace, that invitation does not count
against your plan limit.
Understand How Evaluation Period Works
If you would like to evaluate the Faceskool Platform for your school, you can
create a trial subscription account. Trial version are free for
a period of 30 days; for example if you created a subscription
account today May 8th, 2024; the first 30 days will be free, you will
not be billed at the end of the 30 days. Afterwards, you are either
expected to cancel the subscription or start paying for
the subscription at the end of the next 60 days. You can use
this trial period to understand and evaluate the platform for your school.
When you are done evaluating and want to proceed, the platform
will notify you about your trial period ending a number of times, if you
do not take any action, say canceling the subscription, the platform will
automatically upgrade your subscription account to a billable
one, unless you cancel the subscription account before the end
of your evaluation period.
If you choose not to continue with the platform, cancel the
subscription at any time and disregard any outstanding invoices.
Even if you have already been billed (for example, because you forgot to
cancel the subscription before the end of a billing period), you
can just cancel the subscription.
Understand How Billing Periods Work
Faceskool Platform uses a monthly billing cycle, with the first billing period
starting one month after you created a subscription account.
The billing period for a subscription account is not
dependent on when you created the subscription account. For
example, if you created a subscription account on the 13th of
August, your first billing period will end on the 13th of September. The
first billing period will mark the end of the trial or evaluation period
for the subscription account rather than generate an invoice.
You will get your first real invoice on the 31st of October. Faceskool
monthly billing periods are adjusted so that it happens at the end of
the month.
If a subscription account billing day is after the end
of a month, you will be invoiced on the last day of the month.
For example, if you created a monthly billing
subscription account on the 28th of February, you will receive
your first invoice on the 30th of April (because April has only
30 days), then your next invoice will be on the 31st of May.
Because months have varying numbers of days, some monthly billing
periods will be slightly longer or shorter than others. To make
billing simpler and more predictable, this minor variation in
period length is ignored when calculating bills. The average
period length is the same as the length of an average month
anyway, so this evens out over time.
Termination of Subscription Account
If you do not settle invoices for an extended period of time,
we will eventually suspend your subscription
account. You will not be able to perform any administrative work on any
of your workspaces while your subscription account is suspended.
You will be warned about this repeatedly in advance, of an impending
automatic suspension of your subscription account. When the
platform generates a new invoice, it often checks how long overdue your
oldest unpaid invoice is:
If it is more than 25 days overdue, we will send you a
friendly reminder to pay when you have a chance.
If it is more than 50 days overdue, we will send you a more
terse, less friendly reminder warning you that you risk
suspension of your subscription account for nonpayment.
If it is more than 75 days overdue, we will automatically
suspend your subscription account and effectively you will
not be able to perform administrative work within any of your workspaces,
until you settle your outstanding invoices.
Because invoices are billed at the end of a usage period
and billing cycles are approximately 30 days long, this generally means
that subscription account(s) will be suspended after about 120
days of usage without payment. You can monitor the billing status of your
subscription account from the web UI at any time.
If a subscription account is suspended for nonpayment but you
wish to continue with the platform, pay the outstanding invoices and your
subscription account will automatically be restored for you. You
have 90 days, after a suspension, before we permanently destroy all
workspaces associated with your subscription account.
If you do not wish to continue with the platform, you can cancel
the subscription account yourself or just ignore the warnings.
We will not contact you again after termination, and will make attempt to
collect the outstanding balance.
